Wahlenbergbreen Mementos
- Interacting with the ephemera -
"Wahlenbergbreen" is the name of a glacier in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic. "Mementos" refers to the Latin expression "memento mori" translated as "remember what is lost". In Capucine Huguet's eyes, jewelry should provoke interaction and discussion, as constant reminders of what is lost. Each piece in this collection is an evocation of the Arctic for the jeweler, but also for the wearer.
Illustrating here a fissure, there erosion or the texture of water, they remind everyone of the need to protect our beautiful planet. Capucine has also discovered a deep interest in the microscopic world. She studied snow crystals with an electron microscope, which opened up a new vocabulary of shapes. This gave her the idea to freeze in metal the ephemeral aspect of ice crystals, to make these ephemeral elements permanent. For a responsible approach, all the jewelry is made of recycled 18-carat gold and ethical gemstones.
